The 10.F4.S1D-3420 frequency inverter is produced by KEB within the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. As a variable-speed AC drive, it converts fixed-frequency mains power into a controlled output. This allows three-phase induction motors to accelerate, decelerate, and maintain precise speeds required in conveyors, pumps, and general machinery.
On the supply side, the unit is designed for three-phase networks in the 400 V Class voltage group. It draws a nominal input current of 6.4 A, and the installation should be protected with a 10 A gL/gG mains fuse. Feed conductors with a cross-section of 1.5 mm² satisfy the terminal capacity and thermal limits. Internally, the inverter chops the DC link at a rated switching frequency of 4 kHz before delivering 4 kVA of apparent power to the motor. Continuous output current is 5.8 A, while short-time demands up to 10.4 A are tolerated for rapid acceleration. If the load stalls or a phase fault occurs, the control reacts when the OC tripping current reaches 12.7 A. The power stage therefore supports motors up to 2.2 kW without exceeding semiconductor temperature limits.
The inverter uses Housing type D, giving a slim panel depth while maintaining natural airflow cooling behind the touch-safe enclosure rated IP20. During regenerative deceleration, the internal brake chopper admits up to 5 A of braking current and is specified for an external resistor no smaller than 82 Ω. A 270 Ω resistor is recommended for typical duty cycles. The circuitry isolates the DC link when current approaches the hardware limit, preventing excess thermal load on the switching transistors. Front-panel diagnostics remain accessible under this rating, and power components stay shielded from accidental contact. Thermal sensors help limit excess load during repeated stopping, and the carrier switching scheme helps keep motor insulation stress within normal operating limits.
