The 10.F4.S1D-1220 is a frequency inverter produced by KEB within the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. Intended for cabinet mounting in automated machinery, it modulates the voltage and frequency supplied to an AC induction motor, allowing closed-loop speed and torque adjustment without mechanical gear changes. By converting a single-phase mains source into a controlled three-phase output, the device helps meet cycle time, energy savings, and soft-start requirements in material handling and process equipment.
It accepts a single-phase supply of 180...260 VAC at 50/60 Hz, drawing a nominal input current of 20 A during continuous operation. The power electronics switch at 4 kHz, generating a pulse-width-modulated waveform whose fundamental amplitude can reach 3 × UMains. Under rated conditions, the output stage provides 10 A of current, yielding 4 kVA of apparent power to the connected motor. The inverter also supports vector and V/Hz control modes, and its output voltage is adjustable from zero up to the full mains value so motor speed can be matched precisely to process demand while minimizing acoustic noise and thermal stress.
Short-term events are handled by an overload reserve. The drive trips only when the output reaches the 22 A OC threshold, while the power components can withstand 18 A for a few seconds. For regenerative braking, it connects to an external resistor network, and control logic prohibits values below 28 Ω because the braking circuit is limited to 14 A. When a suitably sized resistor is installed, the inverter can dissipate kinetic energy safely and bring loads to rest without saturating the DC bus. The power stage supports motors up to 2.2 kW and is enclosed in an IP20 housing that allows operation from -10 °C to 45 °C in clean, ventilated cabinets.
