Product Description:

The 09.F4.S1D-1220 is a compact frequency inverter built by KEB for the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. As an AC drive, it modulates the supply waveform to regulate the speed of small-to-medium induction motors used in conveyors, pumps, and compact machine modules. By varying output frequency and voltage, the unit enables adjustable motor speed without mechanical speed changers, simplifying panel layouts in industrial automation. This type of drive is well suited for applications that need compact motor control from a cabinet-mounted package.

The power section uses a carrier frequency of 4 kHz, which supports pulse-width-modulated output for motor speed control. When connected to a motor rated up to 1.5 kW, the inverter draws a nominal line current of 14 A and delivers a continuous output current of 7 A. Its inverter bridge can supply an apparent power of 2.8 kVA, allowing full-load operation while maintaining stable motor flux. During acceleration or regeneration, the electronics limit the output to a short-time current of 12.6 A to protect the power semiconductors from thermal stress. This switching arrangement also helps balance output smoothness with heat generation inside the power stage.

A factory-integrated braking transistor is present, so an external braking resistor can be wired directly for controlled deceleration without overshooting the DC-bus voltage. The control stage is designed for a single-phase mains supply. The input system therefore operates on 1 phase and trips if the instantaneous current rises above 15 A. Coordination with branch-circuit protection is supported by the unit’s 230 V-Class rating, making it suitable for standard North American and European low-voltage networks. The short-time overload margin supports brief torque demands during starting, stopping, and speed changes while helping limit heat in the inverter and the connected motor.
