The 00.F4.010-6118 unit is part of the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series manufactured by KEB. It functions as a variable-speed drive that modulates three-phase induction motors for precise speed and torque control in automated production lines, material handling systems, and process equipment. By converting fixed mains frequency into a programmable output and exposing status on a fieldbus, the inverter simplifies centralized monitoring and coordination within industrial automation cells.
The inverter’s network interface supports up to 32 stations on a single segment, allowing several drives and remote I/O nodes to share the same master. Communication follows the PROFIBUS-DP protocol over shielded twisted-pair cable on the RS-485 physical layer; this differential signaling minimizes electromagnetic interference across long plant runs. Cyclic exchange uses a standard user data block of 12 bytes, enough for setpoints, actual values, and status bits to be transferred within every bus cycle. The internal electronics tolerate ambient moisture up to 95% RH, so reliable operation is maintained in humid production areas. Correct line termination is achieved with a 390 Ω resistor integrated in the device to match bus impedance and prevent signal reflections.
By default, the module uses 9600 bit/s under DIN 66019, and it appears on the network as a DP-Slave that automatically draws its 24 V logic power from the KEB COMBIVERT supply rail. Acyclic messages use a channel length of 8 bytes, while individual entries can occupy up to four bytes and the device returns six bytes of diagnostic data when queried. These message sizes let the controller adjust drive limits, ramp profiles, and fault registers without burdening the cyclic telegram. Addressing defaults to node 1, yet it can be reassigned so multiple inverters coexist on the same host, including COMBIVERT F4 and S4 installations.
