The 00.F4.010-6009 is a fieldbus communication module installed in KEB’s F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. KEB supplies it so a drive can exchange process data with higher-level PLCs over a serial network. Within an automation line, the module handles command, status, and parameter frames, enabling coordinated speed and torque control of motors driven by the inverter.
Communication runs on the RS485 differential pair, and the hardware automatically adjusts to incoming bit rates through automatic baud detection, eliminating manual setup. The bus can support up to 32 subscribers, each polled at a minimum slave interval of 5.0 ms, so cyclic telegrams remain within real-time limits for standard motion tasks. Transfer reliability is helped by a minimum station delay (Min Tsdr) of 11 bits, which prevents collisions when nodes release the line. Data moves at rates up to 1500 kbit/s, but the default power-up speed, address 1, and a 6-byte diagnostic block allow immediate network discovery even before higher speeds are negotiated. Parameter access is separated into an 8-byte channel with a 7-byte payload, reducing throughput impact on cyclic I/O.
The regular user data channel ships with a default length of 12 bytes, enough for typical start, stop, and reference commands, while applications that need expanded control can enlarge the telegram up to 32 bytes without firmware changes. Within that space, the inverter allocates separate input and output images, each limited to 16 bytes, so controller projects can assign status words and setpoints predictably. The identification field of 0x04A2 lets master devices verify that the connected node is the correct Combivert variant before parameters are written. Diagnostic information is always delivered in a fixed 6-byte block, ensuring fault codes occupy known offsets during troubleshooting.
