The 00.F4.010-5009 communication interface is supplied by KEB for the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. It attaches to the inverter control board and provides a serial fieldbus port so the drive can exchange control words, status bits, and process data with a PLC on automated machinery. By adding network connectivity, the module allows decentralized adjustment of motor speed, torque, and fault diagnostics within industrial automation cells. This arrangement lets the inverter receive operating commands from the controller and return status information over the same bus connection. The option is suited to distributed drive systems where multiple inverters must exchange data with one PLC.
Communication is based on the CANopen protocol layered on the ISO/DIS 11898 High Speed physical medium, giving 1 Mbit/s capability for deterministic messaging. The module presents a D-SUB 9 male connector that follows the CiA pin assignment for bus power, CAN_H, and CAN_L lines. Message arbitration uses an 11-bit (CAN 2.0A) identifier field, and each Process Data Object can carry up to 8 bytes of user payload. Default byte order is Intel little-endian, which matches many control platforms, and automatic event acknowledgment clears alarms without extra host commands. The compact connector format also supports direct integration into cabinet-mounted CAN wiring layouts.
Network supervisory parameters are preset for bus monitoring. A guard time of 1000 ms sets the interval at which the master expects life-guard responses, and node monitoring depth is set through the Life Time Factor of 5, allowing five missed messages before a communication error is declared. By default the module transmits asynchronous PDOs identified by 254 (Async), a mode that leaves bus bandwidth available for time-critical cyclic traffic on the same network. Segment termination must be added through a 124 Ω external resistor at the plug to maintain proper signal symmetry and limit reflections on the high-speed line.
