Product Description:
The 16.F1.R30-4A09 is an AC frequency converter manufactured by KEB within the F1 Combivert Frequency Converters series. It converts a fixed three-phase supply into a variable-frequency output, allowing precise speed and torque control of induction motors used on conveyors, mixers, and other automated equipment. The device combines power switching elements, control logic, and protective functions in a single IP-rated frame suited for cabinet installation in industrial plants.
On the output side, the drive supplies up to 33 A of continuous motor current, and its IGBTs can be clocked at a maximum carrier frequency of 8 kHz to balance dynamic response with acoustic noise. It supports motors rated as high as 15 kW, while the enclosure maintains the IP20 protection class to guard against accidental contact and small debris. A built-in braking transistor dissipates regenerative energy through an external resistor, and the internal filter attenuates conducted emissions on the mains lines. After power removal, the DC link discharges to a safe voltage within five minutes. Operation at 8 kHz results in 770 W of power loss, so adequate airflow is required. Control diagnostics include monitoring an 8 V open-circuit level at the OH/OH terminal, and a three-phase input is required for full-load performance.
Upstream protection and wiring must meet the converter's installation requirements. The converter is rated at 23 kVA, and the maximum permissible mains fuse is 50 A. The insulation withstands up to 300 V from line to earth, and power cables must have a minimum cross-sectional area of 10 mm². With an integrated EMI filter, the assembly weighs 27 kg, which must be considered when selecting panel support hardware. Motor thermal sensors can trip the drive when resistance reaches 1500 Ω through the PTC input, allowing a coordinated shutdown if the motor overheats.
