The 14.F1.R30-3489 frequency converter is produced by KEB for the F1 Combivert Frequency Converters series. This device serves as a variable-speed interface between a 400 V industrial supply and an AC induction motor, enabling precise control of shaft speed and process torque in automated equipment such as conveyors, mixers, and pumps. By modulating the applied frequency and voltage, the unit can reduce energy consumption when an application does not require the motor to operate continuously at full speed. Controlled acceleration and deceleration also limit mechanical stress on connected equipment and expand the operating range of the machinery.
Internally, the control card draws only 250 mA, so a small auxiliary supply is sufficient for its logic section. The power stage accepts a three-phase input, and an integrated suppression filter attenuates conducted electromagnetic noise. The converter tolerates noncondensing ambient humidity of up to 90% without a loss of performance. Upstream protection must use a maximum fuse rating of 25 A, which is coordinated with the GTR7 power transistors and DC-link capacitance. Copper conductors measuring up to 4 mm² fit the terminal clamps, providing suitable capacity for the power connections. The inverter can deliver mechanical output to motors rated at 7.5 kW when it operates within the applicable duty-cycle limits.
The enclosure has an IP20 rating, so cabinet mounting is required to prevent accidental contact with internal components and to provide additional protection from dust. During continuous operation, the drive draws a line current of 16.5 A and provides an apparent power capacity of 11.0 kVA on the input bus. Pulse-width modulation operates at 16 kHz, reducing audible motor noise while producing switching losses that must be removed through the aluminum heat sink. The thermal mass of the cooling assembly contributes to the converter’s total weight of 27 kg. Adequate clearance around the heat sink allows cabinet airflow to carry away generated heat and helps the power stage remain within its permitted operating temperature range.
