The 07.17.670-940U is a spring-set safety brake produced by KEB within the Combistop Spring Brakes series. Intended for NEMA frame motors in automated machinery, the unit engages mechanically whenever power is removed and supplies static holding torque to prevent unwanted shaft rotation. Its DC coil receives power through an internal half-wave rectifier, so the brake can mount directly on the motor fan cover or C-face adapter without separate control hardware, and it can help hold vertical axes or suspended loads.
Electrically, the brake is energized through a built-in rectifier that accepts an input of 460 VAC and delivers release current to the windings. Under these conditions, the assembly draws 65 W of operating power, allowing continuous duty with a 100% On rating without overheating. When voltage is removed, the preloaded compression springs generate a holding torque of 61.0 Nm, which is suitable for securing medium-inertia loads on the connected shaft.
