The 16.E4.T60-107H is an electromagnetic interference filter produced by KEB for the Combiline EMC Filters series. Placed on the supply side of a variable-frequency drive, the unit suppresses conducted noise and reduces high-frequency ripple so that adjacent sensors, PLCs, and safety relays operate within specified immunity limits. Its role in an industrial automation panel is to keep switching disturbances from propagating through the plant’s three-phase power bus and to help the complete installation satisfy EMC directives.
This filter is sized for converters that draw an input current of 40 A from a three-phase line voltage of 3 x 400/480 VAC ±10%. At that operating point, the conductive path introduces only a 15 V drop, limiting additional heating and keeping the DC-link voltage within a predictable window for the drive. Line leakage is controlled to 25 mA, allowing residual-current devices to remain below their trip thresholds while still shunting common-mode currents to ground. Continuous operation is supported on grids that supply 50/60 ±2 Hz, so the same model can be used in both European and North American plants. The housing carries an IP20 rating, indicating finger-safe terminals when mounted in a cabinet and no need for extra gaskets. Input and output terminals are internally coupled by inductors and capacitors that account for a power loss of 21 W on the line side, and that heat must be removed by panel ventilation.
The filter is matched to drives that control motors up to 18.5 kW and can handle inverter output frequencies as high as 400 Hz without excessive reactive voltage rise. It tolerates switching edges of 500 V/µs and carrier frequencies up to 4 kHz while protecting motor insulation along cable runs up to 50 m. Thermal operation is limited to a 45 °C ambient temperature and an additional 40 W dissipated on the load side. Assembly weight is 4.0 kg, allowing direct DIN-rail support without auxiliary bracing.
