The 08.06.670 clutch-brake assembly is manufactured by KEB within the Combibox Clutch Brakes series. This unit combines an electromagnetic clutch with a fail-safe brake in one housing, allowing torque to be transmitted or interrupted and then locked in place within the same footprint. It is installed between a motor and a load inside packaging, material-handling, or positioning equipment where precise start-stop indexing is required for reliable industrial automation.
The brake section uses the permanent-magnet principle and draws 20 W when its coil is energized through a smoothed DC feed at the standard 24 V DC control level. The brake is rated for 24 Nm of static torque, so loads remain stationary when the brake is engaged. The clutch side consumes 28 W and transmits up to 30 Nm, matching the brake capacity so motion can be engaged without resizing drive components. Smoothed DC excitation eliminates flux ripple that would otherwise increase noise or lining wear, while a brake supply isolated from the motor line allows the module to be wired directly to low-voltage PLC outputs.
The friction package is designed for a continuous thermal dissipation of 161 J/s, and each engagement may absorb up to 4.8 × 10³ J without exceeding the temperature threshold of the resin-bonded lining.
