The 07.10.520-S0GJ is an electromagnetic clutch-brake module produced by KEB for the Combibox Clutch Brakes series. In automated machinery, the unit couples or decouples motor shafts on command, allowing precise index positioning without external mechanical actuators. It also stops connected loads and provides controlled deceleration during machine cycles.
The control board samples the torque command through an analog channel with 11-bit resolution and refreshes every 2 ms, so drive current can be adjusted in fine increments during each cycle. Power enters at 230 V AC; this mains voltage is rectified and switched at a rated frequency of 16 kHz to supply the magnet coil. Under continuous duty, the output stage provides 4 A, resulting in an apparent load of 1.6 kVA for sizing upstream fuses and contactors. The processor disables the transistor bridge if the instantaneous current reaches the 8.6 A overcurrent trip point, protecting downstream devices. A minimum braking resistor of 56 Ω must be fitted, while a typical value of 180 Ω supports energy dissipation without overloading the heat sink. At rated load, the electronics dissipate 65 W of heat, which must be considered when planning enclosure ventilation.
The module supports motors up to 0.75 kW, and dynamic stopping torque is provided by a coil that can reach 7.5 A during rapid deceleration. Short bursts draw 7.2 A when the application requires a brief overload before the overcurrent threshold is reached. The aluminum heat sink can operate at temperatures up to 90 °C; airflow or conductive mounting is required to keep it below this limit. An IP20 housing protects against accidental contact with live parts, but the module is intended for installation inside a sealed control cabinet.
