The 07.10.510 is an electromagnetic clutch-brake unit built by KEB within the Combibox Clutch Brakes series. By combining a single-surface clutch and brake in one housing, it enables controlled engagement and stopping of shafts in automated machinery without external actuators. The element transmits torque through a bore-in and bore-out hub arrangement, so the assembly can slide directly over keyed input and output shafts. Its basic function is to couple and decouple motion rapidly, letting packaging lines, indexing tables, or conveyor zones follow precise cycle commands.
During operation, the brake coil draws 16 W and the clutch coil absorbs 20 W, so the unit presents two clearly defined electrical loads. The single-surface design generates a rated braking moment of 15 Nm, which is suitable for holding or decelerating medium-inertia shafts running up to 3000 rpm. Energy released at every stop must remain below 3.1 × 10³ J, because staying under this limit helps prevent thermal damage to the friction linings. With separate friction rings for the clutch and brake sides, both operating circuits are arranged to support cumulative work over the service life.
Dynamic response is influenced by the rotating components: the armature contributes 2.62 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m² of inertia, while the rotor adds 2.98 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m². Because both masses are low, the drive can accelerate quickly when the clutch engages and can maintain responsive motion during repeated cycling. Initial installation calls for an air gap of 0.3 mm between the magnetic faces, and once wear enlarges this clearance to 0.6 mm, the mounting screws should be readjusted to restore response times. Consistent gap control helps the single-surface friction packs operate reliably and reduces the risk of glazing or fade during repeated starts and stops.
