Product Description:
The 06.10.670-4009 is an electromagnetic clutch-brake from KEB that is part of the Combibox Clutch Brakes series. It combines a torque-transmitting clutch and a holding brake in one assembly, allowing a motor shaft to engage, disengage, and stop loads without separate mechanical components. This arrangement is often used on indexing tables, form-fill-seal units, and small conveyors where precise start-stop cycles are required and drive-train space is limited. Because both functions are housed in one unit, the assembly supports compact machine layouts that need controlled engagement and stopping on the same shaft.
The clutch section delivers a rated torque of 7 Nm, reached when its coil absorbs 15 W of power to generate the magnetic field that pulls the armature against the rotor. Thermal energy created during repeated engagement is dissipated at up to 81 J/s, which helps the unit handle frequent cycling during normal operation. When the brake is activated, a separate coil draws only 12 W, and the brake section provides matching torque for stopping and holding. The unit can operate at shaft speeds up to 3000 rpm, and its friction linings can absorb 1.9 × 10³ J in a single stop without exceeding allowable surface temperatures.
The rotor inertia is 1.07 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m², while the armature adds 0.84 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m², helping reduce deceleration time when the brake engages. The housing supports an input Flange B5 (2) with a Bore-In connection and transfers motion through an output Flange B5 (1) with a Shaft-Out interface. Service life depends on setting the air gap to 0.2 mm during installation and allowing readjustment clearance up to 0.4 mm as the friction surfaces wear. These mounting and adjustment points help the unit maintain consistent engagement behavior throughout repeated machine cycles.
