The 06.10.570 is an electromagnetic Combibox clutch-brake produced by KEB for the Combibox Clutch Brakes series. The unit houses both a clutch and a brake in a single housing, allowing motion controllers to switch drive torque on or off and then hold the driven shaft in place without external actuators. By combining engagement and dynamic stopping in one assembly, it simplifies indexing, cyclic positioning, and overload protection tasks on conveyors, form-fill-seal lines, and general-purpose machinery. The manufacturer supplies it as a ready-to-mount module for inline or flange-mounted power transmission layouts used throughout industrial automation cells.
During operation, the clutch section transmits up to 130 Nm of torque, while the brake delivers 120 Nm, providing separate limits for acceleration and deceleration duties. Both elements are energized by a single 24 V DC coil, so standard machine control power can actuate the device. Because the brake is energized to disengage, the shaft remains locked whenever power is lost, providing fail-safe holding. The assembly may run at speeds up to 3000 rpm. Within this speed range, the clutch can absorb 323 J per second and the brake can absorb 236 J per second, so thermal calculations must keep cycle frequencies below these thresholds. Continuous friction work is limited to 12.5 × 10³ J per engagement, and a wear reference of 66.6 × 10⁶ J at 0.1 mm of lining loss can be used to plan maintenance. The clutch and brake coils each draw 50 W when energized.
The moving parts are balanced around an armature inertia of 91.07 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m² and a rotor inertia of 67.4 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m². These values help predict motor acceleration times and stopping distances under the stated clutch and brake torques. A nominal air gap of 0.4 mm is set at the factory to provide the required magnetic flux. As wear increases the gap, it can be readjusted to 0.8 mm to restore proper operation. The B5 (1) output flange provides a standardized mounting face, allowing direct coupling to IEC motors or gearbox inputs without additional spacers.
