The 176F8685 Power Card is a critical interface for VLT/FC series drives. It features built in SMPS, fan control, current feedback and essential protections for high performance industrial motor drive applications.
The 176F8685 power card from Danfoss operates at 400 kW and is compatible with three phase 690 V input. This unit is conformally coated and built for Frame D4/D2 systems. It ensures reliable control and safe communication between control logic and power stage. The power card includes a switched mode power supply (SMPS) which generates multiple internal voltages — 24 V DC, ± 18 V DC, and 5 V DC — from the DC bus. These voltages power control logic, internal interface circuits and accessories. A soft charge circuit is integrated in this model that features approximately 68 Ω resistor, fuses, metal oxide varistors (MOVs) and positive temperature coefficient resistors (PTCs). The card also contains circuitry for cooling fan regulation. It supplies around 200 VAC for low speed operation and 230 VAC for high speed fan mode. The current sensors with Hall effect technology are used to feed back output currents. These current signals are buffered by the power card and sent to the control card. This supports functions like waveform compensation and overcurrent detection including protection against short circuits or earth faults.
The 176F8685 power card is mounted using seven T25 screws and interfaces via MK100, MK102, MK105 connectors. The total weight of the model is 1.10 kg and dimensions are 45 cm by 30 cm by 9 cm.
