Product Description:
The 176F3500 is a replacement power electronics module manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT PowerCards series. It operates as a dedicated power card inside VLT drives, where it switches and monitors the main inverter legs that deliver regulated AC energy to motors used in industrial automation. The card handles the high-current inverter section rather than low-power signal processing. Such cards are field-replaceable, so a failed power stage section can be changed without replacing the entire drive.
Danfoss qualifies the card for mains lines from 525–690 VAC, so the copper tracks and semiconductor devices are spaced to withstand the corresponding peak voltages. The assembly is rated for 250 kW applications, meaning one card can process the current needed by a drive feeding motors up to that mechanical output. The printed circuit board style is a Power Card, which uses thicker copper planes and large solder pads for high instantaneous currents. In operation, the power semiconductors must tolerate both switching losses and the electrical stress of motor acceleration, so layout and insulation spacing are important. The unit carries an overload class of NO, so the drive must limit current spikes through external programming rather than relying on the card for extra thermal headroom. Its board-to-board connectors are keyed for straightforward replacement in field enclosures, and the board matches the corresponding VLT gate driver and control hardware.
The module has a physical volume of 15.354 dm³, so it fits inside the standard VLT cooling channel without obstructing airflow. The compact package helps the module sit correctly within the drive’s internal airflow path, which is important for removing heat from the power stage. The assembly is delivered in a ruggedized version, so component leads are resin-staked to resist vibration encountered near compressors or hammer mills. Resin staking also helps maintain solder joint stability when the drive is mounted close to heavy industrial equipment. Within the VLT PowerCards series, that reinforcement distinguishes it from light-duty boards.
