Product Description:
The FC-280P3K0T4E20H2BXC is an AC variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss and supplied in the VLT FC 280 Midi Drives series. The unit sits between the compact Micro Drive and the larger Automation Drive families, giving machine builders a mid-range inverter for pumps, fans, and conveyor motors. By converting fixed mains power into a modulated output, it lets PLCs regulate induction-motor speed for energy savings and better process accuracy in general industrial automation. For integration, the chassis-mounted controller bolts directly inside low-voltage cabinets and can connect to fieldbus adapters available for the platform.
For electrical compatibility, the inverter accepts a three-phase 380-480 VAC mains feed, so it connects directly to common IEC power distribution without isolation transformers. Inside the power stage, silicon IGBTs are sized for a nominal motor rating of 3.0 kW; in imperial terms this equals 4.0 HP, which gives useful margin for many 2.2 kW machines when derating is undesirable. The enclosure is rated IP20 chassis, meaning live parts are finger-safe, but the drive still needs cabinet installation where dust or liquid exposure is expected. For conducted emissions, an integrated EMC Cat C3 (200/400V) RFI filter limits high-frequency noise on the mains and supports EN 61800-3 installations in industrial areas.
The stop function is aided by an internal brake chopper that routes regenerated energy to an external resistor during rapid deceleration, helping prevent overvoltage trips. Long-term reliability is supported by a coated PCB that shields traces from moisture and airborne contaminants commonly found on production floors. The drive uses pluggable control terminals, which keep control wiring organized and allow accessory connections without hard-wired terminal changes. The unit has no display, so setup is handled through a remote keypad or software tool, and the shallower front section helps reduce cabinet depth.
