The 134X0720 is an AC variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss within the VLT FC 280 Midi Drives series. It regulates the speed of three-phase induction motors so conveyors, mixers, and pumps can operate at the rates required by automated processes. The unit converts fixed-frequency mains power into pulse-width-modulated voltage and current, providing controlled motor torque and speed without mechanical throttling. This electronic control method also allows the connected motor to respond to changing process demands through commands from a local control system or plant network.
The drive accepts a three-phase 380–480 VAC input, which is compatible with common industrial power distribution systems. At the motor terminals, the inverter can supply up to 15 kW, equivalent to 20 HP, for mid-sized production machinery. The enclosure has an IP20 chassis rating, so the drive must be installed inside a suitable cabinet that prevents exposure to water and excessive contamination. An internal EMC Category C3 (200/400 V) RFI filter limits conducted electrical emissions and helps reduce interference associated with motor cabling. The standard control configuration does not include additional mains options. Cabinet placement should provide appropriate clearance for wiring, ventilation, and access to the drive terminals.
The built-in brake chopper provides a path for regenerated energy and supports rapid motor deceleration when the drive is connected to a compatible external braking resistor. Control traffic is handled by an integrated EtherNet/IP card, which exchanges start, speed, status, and diagnostic data over an industrial Ethernet network. A coated printed circuit board helps protect the drive electronics from moisture, dust, and airborne contaminants in demanding production areas. The unit is supplied with no local display, so configuration and operating data are accessed through a connected computer or the available network interface. The absence of a front display keeps the drive profile compact and eliminates the need for a corresponding enclosure cutout.
