Product Description:
The 134U2988 is a variable-frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT FC 280 Midi Drives series. In an automation cell, it regulates the speed of three-phase induction motors, allowing pumps, conveyors, and mixers to match process demand instead of running continuously at the mains frequency. The power stage, control logic, and fieldbus interface are contained within a compact chassis suitable for installation in an industrial control cabinet.
The drive has a rated output power of 15 kW, which corresponds to approximately 20 HP for applications that use imperial units. The input section accepts a three-phase supply of 380–480 VAC, allowing direct connection to common low-voltage industrial feeders without an isolation transformer. During rapid motor deceleration, the built-in brake chopper directs excess energy from the DC bus to a properly sized external resistor. Command and diagnostic data pass through a standard control card with Modbus, giving connected PLCs access to operating parameters, status words, and fault information without requiring an additional communication board. This arrangement supports remote control and monitoring through the serial communication network while keeping the drive’s internal interface compact.
The chassis has an IP20 protection rating, which provides protection against accidental finger contact with live components while permitting airflow inside the control cabinet. Conducted emissions are limited by an integrated EMC Category C1 at 200 V and C2 at 400 V radio-frequency interference filter, helping reduce electrical noise transmitted through connected power lines. Circuit boards have a protective PCB coating that shields copper traces and electronic components from moisture and airborne contaminants in humid or dusty production areas. The unit includes a standard language pack and is supplied without a built-in display, so operator interaction is provided through an external human-machine interface. Removing the onboard display also keeps the front cover compact and reduces the space required for cabinet installation.
