Product Description:
The FC-101P1K5T4E20H is an AC variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 101 HVAC Basic Drives series. This compact unit converts fixed-frequency utility power into a modulated output that lets building-automation controllers adjust centrifugal fan and pump speeds precisely. By varying motor frequency and voltage, the drive reduces energy consumption in air-handling units, chilled-water loops, and other ventilation circuits. It also helps systems match airflow or water movement to changing demand instead of running motors at full speed all the time. In practical use, it serves as the interface between supervisory controllers and the induction motors that move air or water through HVAC infrastructure.
The drive is rated for a continuous shaft output of 2.0 HP. Its input stage accepts 380 – 480 VAC mains, so it connects directly to standard low-voltage industrial feeders without an autotransformer. Because the unit is designed for three-phase supplies, the internal rectifier and inverter sections are balanced across all conductors. At the inverter terminals, it can supply up to 1.5 kW of electrical power, which suits small to medium impeller loads in rooftop air handlers. Variable output also helps fans and pumps ramp more smoothly during startup and normal control. The enclosure is rated IP20, indicating finger-safe openings but no sealing against water.
The housing uses a chassis format, so it mounts on a flat panel and relies on the surrounding cabinet for additional enclosure protection. This layout is intended for installation inside a larger control enclosure rather than for exposed mounting in wet areas. It belongs to the VLT HVAC Drive product group, which is aimed at ventilation and pumping applications in building systems. The control section uses Danfoss universal VVC+ modulation, which helps maintain stable motor operation as fan or pump demand changes. The unit is identified by revision 101.
