Danfoss manufactures the 131L9796 as part of the VLT FC 101 HVAC Basic Drives series within the wider VLT HVAC Drive product group. This AC variable frequency drive regulates induction motor speed in air-handling units, circulation pumps, and similar building service equipment. By varying the output frequency in response to demand signals, the drive can reduce energy consumption and limit inrush current. Controlled acceleration and deceleration also provide smoother starting and stopping cycles in industrial and commercial automation systems.
The electrical section delivers a continuous mechanical output of 2.2 kW and accepts a supply voltage of 200–240 VAC. It is designed for connection to three-phase mains, allowing direct installation on compatible low-voltage distribution systems without phase conversion. The IP20 chassis is intended for installation inside a ventilated control cabinet and helps prevent accidental contact with live components. An integrated RFI class A1 (C2) filter supports compliance with conducted-emission requirements for motor cable lengths commonly used in rooftop or plant-room installations. The drive has no brake chopper, so it cannot control an external dynamic braking resistor during deceleration. Applications that require rapid stopping must use another suitable method for managing the motor and load during shutdown.
The drive uses a coated PCB to protect its control electronics against airborne moisture, chemical vapors, and other contaminants encountered in building service installations. Adaptation A provides standard cable entries that accommodate common metric gland plates and simplify cable routing into the chassis. Bypass contactors, input fuses, and other required mains-side components must be installed separately when the application requires them. The unit is supplied without a local control panel, so parameters cannot be entered through a drive-mounted keypad. Parameter access instead relies on compatible remote PC tools or controls installed on the cabinet. The cabinet layout should provide suitable ventilation, electrical clearances, and access to the external controls used for operation and maintenance.
