Product Description:
The Danfoss 131Z5118 Frequency Converter enables flexible signal handling with integrated analog and digital interfaces while maintaining operational safety. This converter offers accurate current and voltage management under demanding operating conditions.
This 131Z5118 frequency converter supports one programmable analog output on terminal 42 that offers a current range between 0/4 to 20 mA. The maximum load for analog output remains below 500 ohms while the output resolution is 12 bit with an accuracy of ± 0.5 % of full scale. The converter includes two analog inputs located on terminals 53 and 54 which can operate in either voltage or current modes. These modes are selected through switch S201 and switch S202. In voltage mode, the input range is - 10 V to + 10 V and is fully scalable. The Safe Torque Off (STO) function is enabled on terminal 37 of the converter. It accepts voltage levels up to 24 V DC where logic 0 is below 4 V DC and logic 1 corresponds to 20 V DC. The STO function carries a nominal input current of 50 mA at 24 V and 60 mA at 20 V with an input capacitance of 400 nF. For external power, the system accepts a 24 V DC supply with a tolerance of ± 15 %. It can handle a maximum input of 2.2 A and average input of 0.9 A. The maximum permissible voltage for a short duration is 37 V for 10 seconds.
The 131Z5118 frequency converter is equipped with protective monitoring that continuously checks for critical conditions. It supervises internal temperature, load current and high voltage on the DC link. It monitors for low motor speeds to prevent operational instability. The system automatically adjusts switching frequency or modifies the switching pattern to maintain reliable operation.
Frequently Asked Questions about 131Z5118:
Q: How does the 131Z5118 frequency converter ensure precise signal feedback in analog-controlled systems?
A: It provides a 12-bit analog output with high resolution and ±0.5% full-scale accuracy. This enables fine-tuned actuator control or signal monitoring in precision-driven environments.
Q: How do the analog input modes of the 131Z5118 frequency converter adapt to diverse signal types?
A: Inputs on terminals 53 and 54 support switch-selectable voltage or current modes. This flexibility simplifies integration with transducers and sensors across varied process conditions.
Q: How does the 131Z5118 frequency converter enhance functional safety during torque control events?
A: It integrates a Safe Torque Off (STO) function at terminal 37 with dedicated logic thresholds. This ensures fast and reliable shutdowns in compliance with safety-critical automation requirements.
Q: How does the 131Z5118 frequency converter respond to electrical overstress during brief transients?
A: It tolerates supply peaks up to 37 V for 10 seconds without damage. This protection helps absorb short-duration surges from unstable auxiliary power sources.
Q: How does the 131Z5118 frequency converter maintain stability during varying thermal and load conditions?
A: It continuously monitors internal temperature, load current, and DC link voltage. The system dynamically adjusts switching behavior to avoid stress and ensure consistent output.
