The FC302-102 is an AC variable-frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT FC 302 Automation Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains into a modulated output that lets control systems vary the speed of induction motors used in conveyors, pumps, and general machine automation. By regulating motor voltage and frequency, the unit supports precise process control and energy savings in industrial plants where variable-torque and constant-torque loads are present.
The control platform integrates 2 analog inputs that accept ±10 V or 0–20 mA signals, allowing speed reference or process feedback to be wired directly to the drive. Each input is digitized at 10-bit resolution, giving 1,024 discrete steps for fine adjustment of set points. Command generation is complemented by 1 analog output that can retransmit motor speed, load, or other internal parameters to external indicators or PLC analog modules. Two digital outputs are also included, and each sink/source transistor can deliver up to 40 mA to drive external relays or signal lamps without an interposing interface. A dedicated pulse input accepts encoder or tachometer feedback at rates as high as 110 kHz, supporting advanced positioning or slip compensation functions. Internal processing of status words, references, and I/O states occurs on a fixed cycle of 1 ms, which minimizes latency between field signals and PWM updates. For noisy industrial environments, the manufacturer specifies a maximum motor-end cable length of 150 m when shielded; unshielded runs may extend to 300 m when emission limits permit.
