Product Description:
The FC-302P18KT5E20H1 variable frequency drive is built by Danfoss for controlling asynchronous motors in automated machinery. As a chassis-mounted inverter, it converts fixed mains power into a variable-frequency output for conveyors, pumps, and material-handling equipment. Its adjustable output allows motor speed to follow process demand instead of remaining at a fixed operating speed. This control can reduce unnecessary energy consumption, limit mechanical stress during acceleration, and provide smoother operation for connected machinery.
The drive provides a continuous output of 18.5 kW, which corresponds to 25 HP when expressed in imperial units. Its input accepts a supply range of 380–500 VAC, allowing direct connection to common low-voltage industrial feeders within that range. The unit operates with three-phase power, supporting balanced input current and symmetrical excitation of the connected motor. An integrated RFI Class A1/B (C1) filter attenuates conducted electrical emissions and helps the drive meet the applicable electromagnetic compatibility requirements without a separate filter. The power capacity is suitable for medium-duty adjustable-speed applications while keeping conductor sizes and thermal loads appropriate for a cabinet-mounted drive of this rating.
The housing supports normal cabinet mounting for A, B, and C frames, providing a standardized arrangement for the heat sink, terminals, and power connections. The IP20 chassis enclosure protects against incidental contact with hazardous internal parts but does not provide complete protection from water or fine airborne contaminants. Installation inside a closed control cabinet is therefore necessary when the surrounding area requires a higher degree of protection. The drive belongs to the VLT AutomationDrive FC product group and carries family code 302. Panel layouts must maintain adequate clearance around the heat sink and wiring terminals so air can circulate and electrical connections remain accessible. The chassis format also keeps power and control wiring organized within the cabinet while allowing the drive to regulate motor torque and speed from external automation commands.
