Product Description:
The FC-302P15KT5E21H2B is a variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT FC 302 Automation Drives series. It modulates AC power so that induction motor speed, torque, and acceleration can be adjusted through a control system instead of mechanical throttling. In conveyor lines, pumps, and material-handling stations, the drive sits between the mains supply and the motor, providing closed-loop regulation that improves energy efficiency and process repeatability. This arrangement also allows motor behavior to be adapted to changing loads without requiring mechanical changes to the driven equipment.
The inverter accepts a supply of 380 to 500 VAC across a three-phase power network, covering common industrial distribution voltages. At the output, it can continuously deliver 15 kW, indicating the maximum motor power it can regulate without derating under the stated operating conditions. The front cover carries an IP21 / Type 1 rating, protecting against finger contact and vertically falling water drops while leaving ventilation openings available for airflow. These electrical and enclosure parameters affect cabinet layout, conductor sizing, and the clearances required when the unit is integrated into a machine. Adequate airflow around the enclosure helps the inverter dissipate heat during sustained operation.
For controlled stopping and dynamic braking, the drive includes a brake chopper that diverts regenerated energy to an external resistor, reducing deceleration time without causing overvoltage trips. Conducted emissions traveling toward the supply are attenuated by the built-in RFI filter, supporting installation where electromagnetic interference must be limited. The internal platform code is 302, which associates the unit with the appropriate control architecture, compatible option cards, and parameter structure. Regenerated energy occurs when a driven load decelerates or forces the motor to act as a generator. The external braking resistor must be selected to accommodate the energy produced during the required stopping cycle.
