It converts fixed-frequency, three-phase utility power into a controlled output that allows automated equipment to vary induction motor speed without mechanical throttling. By adjusting torque and acceleration in real time, the drive supports energy-efficient operation of conveyors, pumps, and other rotating loads commonly found in industrial automation cells. It regulates motor operation through pulse-width modulation of the output waveform, enabling soft starts and rapid adaptation to process changes.
