Product Description:
The 131U8232 is an AC drive from Danfoss in the VLT FC 302 Automation Drives series. It modulates the speed of three-phase induction motors used in automated material handling, pumping, and general process equipment. By varying output frequency and voltage, the unit helps motors match process demand instead of running at one fixed speed. In automated lines, this supports smoother starts and controlled deceleration, which can reduce abrupt load changes on connected equipment. It is intended for applications where motor speed needs to change during operation without mechanical speed-changing devices.
Its output capacity is rated at 5.5 kW, which is equivalent to 7.5 HP and suits medium-duty machinery. The unit accepts an input supply of 380–500 VAC and is built for three-phase power, which supports balanced input loading across industrial supply lines. The enclosure has an IP20 / Chassis protection class, so live parts are guarded while cabinet ventilation is still required. It is suitable for normal cabinet mounting in A, B, and C frames, and coated printed circuit boards add tolerance to moisture and dust inside enclosed panels. Cabinet mounting also leaves airflow available around the heat-producing power section. Standard cable entries simplify wiring, and the drive includes a standard language pack with the current software release.
The factory installs the MCB-103 Resolver Option, which supports resolver-based position feedback, while the A, C0, C1, and D bays remain empty and the software slot has no additional option. In the Safe Stop category, the unit has no brake chopper, so regenerative energy must be handled externally when the motor returns excess energy during deceleration. Electromagnetic compliance is supported by an integrated RFI Filter, which helps reduce conducted interference on the power lines. There is no local control panel, so status access and parameter changes use remote interfaces, and the line option bay is unused. The series code is 302.
