The 131U3909 is a variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 302 Automation Drives series. Installed inside a control cabinet, it regulates the voltage-to-frequency profile delivered to induction motors, allowing conveyors, pumps, and fans to start, stop, and run at commanded speeds without mechanical throttling. In an automation line, the drive connects to the plant mains and provides closed-loop motor control that can reduce energy consumption and mechanical wear under variable-load conditions.
The inverter supplies a continuous motor output of 1.5 HP (1.1 kW), which indicates the load it can sustain during steady operation. It accepts an input range of 380–500 VAC and operates with three-phase power, allowing connection to common industrial feeders without transformers. Real-time communication with PLCs is provided by the integrated EtherNet/IP MCA 121 option card, which exchanges set points, operating data, and status information over standard Ethernet infrastructure. Mechanical installation follows the normal A, B, and C frame cabinet pattern. The uncoated printed circuit boards require protection from moisture, conductive dust, and other airborne contaminants that could affect the control electronics.
The unit has an IP20 chassis enclosure, which protects against accidental finger contact with live parts but does not prevent liquid ingress. A ventilated control cabinet must therefore provide suitable protection while allowing sufficient airflow around the drive. An internal RFI filter attenuates conducted electrical noise and helps limit interference with nearby analog signal and network wiring. The design includes no brake chopper, so regenerative energy produced during rapid deceleration must be absorbed by the motor or managed through suitable external braking equipment. Standard cable entries support orderly routing of mains, motor, and control wiring, while the drive is supplied with no LCP keypad installed.
