Product Description:
The 131L1218 is a variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 302 Automation Drives series. Classified within the VLT AutomationDrive FC product group, this converter changes fixed-frequency mains power into a controllable output for induction motors. In production lines, HVAC systems, and material-handling stations, the unit provides closed-loop speed adjustment so pumps, fans, and conveyors can respond to real-time demand while reducing electrical and mechanical stress. Its adjustable output also supports controlled acceleration and deceleration, which can reduce abrupt loading on connected equipment.
Rated at 11 kW, the drive supplies continuous electrical power to medium-sized motors. This rating corresponds to a motor output capability of 15 HP. It accepts 200–240 VAC from a three-phase power supply, allowing connection to low-voltage industrial feeders. The housing has an IP54/Type 12/N3R protection rating, shielding the internal electronics from dust and splashing water when the inverter is mounted near the process. A graphical local control panel provides direct access to operating parameters and status information. Standard cable entries simplify cable routing and gland plate arrangements during cabinet assembly. Because the printed circuit boards do not have a protective coating, the drive should be installed away from high condensation and corrosive vapors. Adequate ventilation around the enclosure helps the unit dissipate heat during continuous operation.
Fieldbus control is handled through the PROFIBUS DP V1 MCA 101 interface, which transmits cyclic setpoints and operating status to a host PLC. During a mains outage, the integrated control logic is sustained by the MCB 107 24 V DC backup, allowing an orderly shutdown and the retention of relevant operating data. Regenerative energy is absorbed by the internal brake chopper, which helps prevent DC-bus overvoltage during motor deceleration without requiring a separate chopper module. Conducted emissions are reduced by the RFI Class A1/B (C1) filter, helping the drive meet applicable plant electromagnetic compatibility limits. The communication interface supports coordinated commands from a centralized automation system, while the backup supply maintains the control section when the main input is interrupted. The internal braking function is particularly useful in applications with frequent speed changes or loads that return energy to the DC bus.
