Product Description:
The Danfoss 131F8424 is a variable frequency drive in the VLT FC 302 Automation Drives series. It modulates motor voltage and frequency so that a PLC or distributed control system can regulate the speed of pumps, fans, conveyors, and other motor-driven equipment. The drive converts three-phase mains power into a pulse-width-modulated output for accurate torque and speed control. This operating method can reduce energy consumption when an application does not require the connected motor to run continuously at full speed.
The unit delivers 20 HP of mechanical output, corresponding to a continuous power rating of 15 kW. It accepts a mains supply ranging from 380–500 VAC and operates on a three-phase power network, making it suitable for common industrial electrical systems. Its IP20 chassis enclosure protects against accidental finger contact with hazardous internal components, but it does not provide sealed protection against water or fine dust. The drive does not contain a brake chopper, so an appropriate external solution is required when the application produces regenerative energy during rapid deceleration. Standard cable entries accommodate common metric gland plates and support organized routing inside an electrical cabinet. The power electronics regulate the output waveform according to the requested motor speed while monitoring operating conditions that could affect the drive or connected equipment.
The drive supports normal cabinet mounting for A, B, and C frames, allowing it to fit established VLT cabinet layouts without additional mounting adapters. A coated conformal finish protects the printed circuit board from conductive dust, moisture, and airborne contaminants that may be present in industrial environments. Conducted electrical emissions are reduced by an integrated RFI Class A1/B (C1) filter, which helps limit interference transferred through the mains connection. Local operation is provided through a graphical local control panel with the standard language package, giving users access to operating values, status messages, and adjustable parameters. The A, B, C, C0, C1, and D option slots contain no auxiliary modules, and the unit has no mains option or adaptation package. Its baseline configuration is intended for applications that use the drive’s standard control, filtering, display, and motor-regulation functions without additional option cards.
