Internal Product Review
The 131B0588 is a Danfoss VLT FC 302 automation drive rated at 1.5 kW for 380-500 VAC systems. PROFIBUS DP V1 MCA 101 support and a Brake IGBT make the unit especially capable in coordinated automation and controlled deceleration duty. Efficiency at 0.97 and an IP20/chassis design make this drive a very solid choice for efficient panel-based installations.

Product Description:
The 131B0588 is an AC variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT FC 302 Automation Drives series. Intended for cabinet-mounted installations, the unit converts fixed-frequency, three-phase mains power into a regulated output that adjusts induction motor speed and torque. In automated conveyors, pumps, and material-handling stations, the drive operates between the supply network and the motor to provide closed-loop speed control, energy savings, and consistent processes. Its regulated output allows connected machinery to respond to changing load or production demands without operating continuously at full motor speed.
The drive accepts an input of 380-500 VAC from a three-phase line. Within this voltage range, the inverter delivers a continuous mechanical output of 1.5 kW while maintaining an efficiency of 0.97. The chassis has an IP20 protection rating, making it suitable for installation inside a ventilated control panel. At 400 V, the converter can supply 2.8 kVA of apparent power and 4.1 A of fundamental current. Operation from a 460 V supply provides 2.7 kVA of apparent power and 3.4 A of fundamental current. These electrical ratings apply to the compact A2 frame and the A1/B (C1) EMC classification for installations that require controlled conducted emissions.
The integrated brake IGBT controls regenerated energy by switching power to a compatible external brake resistor during deceleration. This transistor-based chopper engages automatically when the DC-link voltage rises during a braking event, helping prevent overvoltage trips and permitting shorter stopping times for high-inertia loads. The drive has an estimated power loss of 62 W, which must be considered when determining control-panel ventilation and cooling requirements. With a maximum mass of 4.9 kg, the unit can be secured to a suitable panel mounting surface without adding excessive load to the enclosure. Communication with higher-level PLCs is handled through the PROFIBUS DP V1 MCA 101 module. This deterministic fieldbus connection supports parameter access, command exchange, and real-time operating status reports between the drive and the automation controller.
