Product Description:
The 167G0996 is an AC drive produced by Danfoss and delivered as part of the VLT EZ FC 321 Automation Drives series. Intended for cabinet installation in automated manufacturing lines, the device converts fixed utility power into variable-frequency and variable-voltage output for motor speed control and process adjustment. It is intended for use with AC motors in process lines that need adjustable speed during normal production. It is suited for variable-speed applications where output frequency must follow process demand rather than line frequency. This supports energy savings, reduced mechanical stress, and stable operation in pumps, fans, conveyors, and other material-handling equipment.
On the input side, the drive accepts a three-phase 525-600 VAC supply, which suits high-voltage North American distribution systems. Its continuous output is rated at 30 kW, which corresponds to 40 HP of motor capacity. The enclosure has an IP20 / chassis rating, so it protects against accidental finger contact with live parts but is not sealed against water and is intended for installation inside a closed panel. For networked control, the factory-installed A-option board provides EtherNet/IP MCA 121 connectivity for exchanging setpoints, status words, and diagnostic data with a PLC over industrial Ethernet. This allows the drive to fit into systems that rely on standard Ethernet-based control architecture.
A built-in brake chopper handles regenerated energy during deceleration, which helps prevent DC-bus overvoltage without requiring a separate brake module. The drive uses uncoated PCBs, so the enclosure should remain free of conductive dust and moisture. Operation and setup rely on remote tools because of the lack of a local control panel. Electromagnetic compatibility measures must be handled externally because of the lack of an RFI filter, so an external filter may be required to meet cabinet-level requirements. This arrangement places more emphasis on panel design and the surrounding installation environment.
