Product Description:
The FC-202P18KS4134G3979 is a variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 202 AQUA Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency mains power into a controlled output that regulates centrifugal pumps, blowers, and other water-handling motors in automated facilities. By adjusting motor speed instead of throttling flow, the drive can reduce energy use and mechanical stress across municipal and industrial water processes. Dedicated software functions support pump protection, while the power hardware is sized for medium-power installations.
The inverter delivers a continuous output of 18.5 kW, equivalent to 25 HP, so it can start and regulate mid-range induction motors without an external soft starter. The incoming three-phase supply can range from 380 to 480 VAC. The control board provides one analog output with an accuracy of 0.8% of full scale and an 8-bit resolution for feedback to SCADA systems or pump controllers. The logic section provides digital status signals through a transistor stage rated at 40 mA, while the optically isolated inputs accept up to 28 V DC. These signal paths support proportional valve positioning, run indication, and low-level alarm transmission from the drive enclosure.
The drive maintains its full rating at altitudes up to 1,000 m and requires linear derating at higher elevations through 3,000 m. The ambient temperature can reach 50 °C before additional cooling is required. The PWM section can switch at frequencies up to 32 kHz, permitting quieter motor operation and reduced harmonic distortion on long feeders. Shielded motor leads up to 150 m are supported, while unshielded leads can extend to 300 m when a 10 mm² equipment-grounding conductor is installed. The drive carries an IE2 energy-efficiency classification, and its control algorithms help minimize idle losses when pumps operate at partial load.
