The 176F7314 is a three-phase AC variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT Adjustable Micro Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency mains power into a regulated PWM output so plant controllers can start, stop, and modulate motor speed without mechanical dampers or throttles. The compact form factor allows the drive to fit in crowded panels while still providing closed-loop torque control for conveyors, pumps, and other continuous-duty automation axes that demand consistent performance and overload protection.
The inverter supplies a continuous output of 5.0 A, which is the thermal ceiling for continuous operation at rated load. Internal electronics draw just 10 mA from a dedicated 10 V control rail, leaving ample capacity on auxiliary power supplies. Command flexibility is provided by 6 optically isolated digital inputs that accept run, direction, and preset-speed signals from a PLC. An IP20 open-chassis housing allows airflow inside clean electrical rooms while guarding against accidental finger contact. The rectifier tolerates a three-phase supply imbalance of up to ±2%, and the apparent output power reaches 3.8 kVA. A 20 A pre-fuse limits fault energy, and the unit withstands a prospective short-circuit current of up to 5,000 A. Line-side terminals are tightened to 4 kg-cm, helping conductors remain secure under vibration.
Main power lugs accept wire sizes up to 14 AWG, and full-load input demand does not exceed 7.0 A, which simplifies upstream breaker selection. Motor leads may run up to 50 m without additional filtering while keeping voltage rise rates within motor insulation limits. On the load side, the drive can deliver a mechanical shaft output of 2.2 kW, making it suitable for typical 3 hp pump or blower duties. Despite these capabilities, the assembly weighs only 2.75 lb, so DIN-rail or back-panel mounting adds little mass to compact enclosures.
