Product Description:
The VLT5008FT5CN1SBR3D0F10A00C0 is an AC drive produced by Danfoss within the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It converts a fixed-frequency, three-phase supply into a controlled output that regulates induction motor speed and torque in pumps, fans, and conveyor zones. The compact NEMA 1 enclosure supports installation in control panels while protecting users from accidental contact with internal components. A standard brake chopper manages regenerated energy through an external braking resistor during rapid deceleration.
The drive operates from a nominal 380–500 V three-phase supply and draws 10.6 A under rated conditions. It can deliver up to 20.8 A of output current when the DC link is fully utilized, while its rated continuous output current is 13 A. Continuous operation is supported by an efficiency of 0.96, which limits heat generation inside the control cabinet. During startup, the converter can provide 160% torque for one minute. Its power capability is 7.5 kW at 110% torque and 5.5 kW at 160% torque. Internal processing provides a system response of 3 milliseconds, while a frequency resolution of ±0.003 Hz supports precise speed adjustments. Two control outputs, four encoder inputs, and a maximum encoder frequency of 65 kHz support position-oriented applications. The power terminals accept cables up to 4 mm², and the recommended upstream fuse is rated at 25 A. The circuit boards are uncoated, and the drive does not include an application option or display unit.
Communication with higher-level controllers is available through Profibus DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud. Conducted electrical noise is reduced by integral Class A1 and Class B filtering. When coordinated with suitable upstream protection, the drive can withstand a short-circuit current of up to 100,000 A. Its input displacement power factor is 0.90, which reduces reactive current demand from the supply. A 24 V auxiliary output supplies up to 200 mA for compatible external sensors and control devices. The brake terminals provide the connection point for the external resistor used to dissipate recovered energy.
