Product Description:
The VLT5002175Z0125 is a frequency converter manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It serves as a variable-speed interface between fixed-frequency mains power and AC induction motors, allowing automated lines to adjust shaft speed and torque electronically rather than through mechanical throttling. The converter can regulate pumps, fans, conveyors, and other material-handling equipment connected to PLC or DCS systems. Electronic speed control can reduce unnecessary motor output when the connected process operates below its maximum demand.
The drive’s feedback and signal section includes 2 configurable digital or analog outputs that can source loads up to 500 ohms with 8-bit resolution, enabling proportional retransmission of process values. Four pulse or encoder inputs capture position and speed references. Terminal T17 accepts pulse trains up to 5 kHz, while high-speed terminals T29, T32, and T33 respond to signals up to 65 kHz. The output frequency can be adjusted in increments of ±0.003 Hz, providing precise velocity regulation for applications that require small speed corrections. The control loop settles within 3 ms after a setpoint change, making the drive suitable for equipment that requires rapid responses. These input and output channels allow the converter to exchange operating data with external controllers, encoders, and process instruments without requiring a separate signal processor.
An auxiliary fieldbus or sensor supply of 24 V DC is provided for connected control devices. Danfoss requires an upstream fuse rated at 6 A to protect this circuit and limits the superimposed ripple on the supply rail to 2 V DC. The power module is rated at 1.5 kW when the application requires 110% torque, while it delivers 1.1 kW continuously in applications requiring 160% overload capability. The applicable output rating therefore depends on the torque and overload demands of the connected motor. Motor conductors with a cross-sectional area of up to 4 mm² can be connected without additional ferrules, helping maintain a low-impedance connection between the inverter and motor.
