Product Description:
The 178B0765 frequency converter is manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It alters the fixed mains frequency so an automation controller can vary motor speed and torque in small-to-medium industrial processes. Typical applications include fans, pumps, and conveyors where electronic adjustment replaces mechanical throttling. Within a control cabinet, the unit occupies minimal depth and connects to standard three-phase power, giving machine builders a practical option for closed-loop speed regulation without external gear changes.
At 110% overload, the converter supplies 1.1 kW, while sustained operation at 160% torque is limited to 0.75 kW. These ratings distinguish its acceleration capability from its continuous thermal loading. The input accepts a 200–240 V three-phase supply, allowing connection to common low-voltage industrial power systems. An internal Class A1 and Class B filter curbs radio-frequency emissions and helps the installation meet industrial electromagnetic compatibility requirements. The components are housed in a compact IP20 enclosure, which protects against accidental finger contact but requires installation in a clean electrical cabinet to prevent debris from entering.
Drive coordination is handled by the process control card, which is supplied in a synchronizing controller configuration. This arrangement supports speed matching with adjacent drives during cross-line transfer or master-follower operation. Status and parameter values appear on the supplied display, allowing settings and operating information to be viewed directly at the converter. Because the unit has no fieldbus option, all references and feedback use hardwired signals routed through the standard terminal block. The hardware revision is standard, and the uncoated circuit boards promote efficient heat dissipation. The cabinet should provide suitable protection from moisture and airborne contaminants because the boards do not have a protective coating.
