Product Description:
The 178B0477 Frequency Drive of Danfoss runs on a 380–500V voltage supply at 50 - 60 hertz frequency. It has a built in 24 volts DC auxiliary power for sensors or relays. It can maintain efficient cooling with the help of a fan that is rated at 24 volts.
The 178B0477 drive offers a switching contact at terminals and is capable of handling either 50 volts AC at 1 ampere or 30 volts DC at 1 ampere current. It can supply as much as 12.2 kVA that represents the apparent electrical load it can provide to a motor connected to it. It has three terminals that offer proportional voltage or current signals and is usually used in automation systems for monitoring or feeding status position. Its housing shields its internal components from intrusion of dust and water spray due to its IP 54 and NEMA 12 rating. This module needs input current from 14 to 15 amperes and it has a built in RS485 interface on pins 68 and 69 that enables exchange of data with control networks. Its faceplate integrates a digital display and button set that makes it configuration, adjustment and monitoring directly. Its maximum permissible operating temperature is 104°F and it is able to produce output between 0 and 1000 Hz.
This VLT 5000 frequency converter provides a three phase output that varies from zero to the same voltage as the input. It is made specifically for a 440 volts AC rated operating voltage. It comes equipped with digital input terminals that accept low voltage digital signals of maximum 24 volts to execute control commands such as start, stop or to change direction.
Frequently Asked Questions about 178B0477:
Q: How does the 178B0477 drive handle different motor speeds?
A: It varies the output frequency from near zero to high ranges, enabling precise speed control. This flexibility supports both low-speed torque and high-speed applications.
Q: What is the impact of its IP54/NEMA 12 enclosure in real use?
A: It resists dust and water spray, allowing safe use in harsher environments. This reduces the need for external protective housings.
Q: Why is auxiliary 24V DC supply provided in the 178B0477?
A: It powers external relays, switches, or sensors without needing a separate power source. This simplifies wiring and improves installation efficiency.
Q: Can this frequency drive be integrated with automation systems?
A: Yes, it includes analog and RS485 communication ports for system feedback and control. These allow seamless data sharing with PLCs or supervisory networks.
Q: How does fan cooling affect the service life of the drive?
A: Continuous forced ventilation prevents overheating, ensuring reliable electronics operation. A properly functioning fan extends component longevity under load.
