Product Description:
The 176F0544 is an AC frequency converter produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It converts fixed-frequency, three-phase mains power into a variable-frequency output that allows induction motors to follow changing process demands in automated machinery. The converter forms the electrical link between the plant supply and motors that require controlled speed or torque. It responds to analog or digital setpoints from higher-level controllers, allowing motor operation to remain stable as the connected load changes. Its compact design supports installation in drive panels where available mounting space is limited.
Incoming power is accepted from a 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing the converter to connect directly to compatible industrial power systems. When operated at 110% torque, the drive delivers 18.5 kW of output power. Continuous heavy-duty operation is rated at 15 kW with 160% torque capability, supporting applications that experience demanding loads. Control functions are handled by a process control card, which processes speed or pressure adjustments without requiring separate control relays for those tasks. The converter is housed in a compact NEMA 1 enclosure that protects users from accidental contact with live components and provides limited protection against falling dirt. Appropriate panel ventilation is required to move heat away from the converter during operation.
A supplied display on the front of the unit shows operating parameters and fault codes without requiring a separate keypad. The unit uses non-coated circuit boards, so the electronic components do not have a conformal protective coating. Communication expansion is limited by the lack of a fieldbus option, and the application option slot is also unpopulated. Basic analog and digital inputs and outputs on the control card provide the available connections for external commands and operating signals. The converter includes no integral RFI filter, so external filtering may be necessary when nearby instrumentation is sensitive to electromagnetic interference. The hardware build is Standard within the VLT 5000 product line.
