Product Description:
The 176F0502 frequency converter is manufactured by Danfoss within the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. As a variable-speed drive, it converts fixed-frequency mains power into a modulated output that allows precise control of three-phase induction motors in conveyors, pumps, and general process lines. The product belongs to the VLT 5000 type family and integrates power electronics and control logic in a compact frame. This design allows original equipment manufacturers to adjust motor speed, improve energy usage, and match load demands in automated equipment without adding a separate motor control stage.
The converter accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing it to connect directly to common industrial distribution networks. When an application requires 110% rated torque, the drive can provide a continuous mechanical output of 11 kW. For short-term events requiring 160% torque, its output is limited to 7.5 kW. The housing has a Compact NEMA 1 enclosure, which supports indoor panel mounting while providing basic protection against accidental contact and light dust. Conducted emissions are suppressed by the integrated Class A1 filter, keeping radio-frequency noise within general-purpose limits. Standard hardware is supplied with the unit, eliminating the need for special heat sinks when the converter is mounted in a properly ventilated enclosure. Appropriate branch-circuit protection must still be selected according to the installation requirements.
Control and user interaction are handled by a process control card that supports closed-loop regulation without an auxiliary controller. The front panel includes a supplied display module that shows operating frequency, fault codes, and parameter values for on-site adjustments. The internal electronics use uncoated circuit boards, so the drive should be installed in a clean cabinet where moisture and corrosive gases are absent. Network expansion is intentionally omitted because the unit has no fieldbus option. Application-specific option cards are also omitted, reducing the number of interfaces that require configuration and ongoing maintenance.
