The 176F0472 is a variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss within the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It modulates the fundamental frequency supplied to standard induction motors so that pump, fan, or conveyor speed can be matched to process demand in HVAC and general manufacturing lines. By combining power electronics and motor protection in one chassis, the device delivers adjustable torque while simplifying cabinet layouts in automated machinery. This integrated design also reduces the number of separate components needed to control motor speed and protect the connected equipment.
Electrical integration centers on a 380–500 V three-phase supply, which lets the converter connect directly to typical plant mains without step-down transformers. When the application permits a 110% overload for short periods, the drive can deliver 2.2 kW. For high-torque duty that requires 160% starting current, the continuous rating is limited to 1.5 kW. Heat rejection and cable entry are consolidated in the compact NEMA 1 housing, which fits shallow enclosures and provides basic indoor protection against dust. Conducted and radiated emissions are suppressed by the integrated EMC network, which meets Class A1 and Class B filter limits. These filtering capabilities help reduce electrical interference with nearby control and communication equipment.
Control functionality is provided by a process control card that supports analog setpoints and digital status lines without requiring additional control hardware. The electronics are assembled on non-coated boards, so the unit should be installed away from high humidity and corrosive vapors. Parameter access is handled through the front-mounted supplied display, eliminating the need for an external programming device during setup and routine operation. The build uses Danfoss’s standard hardware package. The drive does not include a fieldbus channel or a built-in application option, allowing network interfaces and specialized input and output functions to be added elsewhere in the host machine when needed.
