The 176F0082 is a frequency converter produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. As an adjustable-speed AC drive, it converts fixed utility power into variable-voltage, variable-frequency output for controlling the speed of three-phase induction motors. Integrating this drive into a material-handling line, pump station, or ventilation system allows precise regulation of mechanical throughput while reducing energy consumption during partial-load operation.
The converter accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, making it compatible with common industrial feeders operating at 50 or 60 Hz without additional transformation equipment. It is packaged in a compact NEMA 1 enclosure that supports panel mounting and protects live parts from accidental contact and settled dust. To reduce conducted electromagnetic noise, the power section includes a Class A1 filter, which helps the installation meet general-purpose electromagnetic compatibility limits in mixed-load switchboards. The supplied display combines a keypad and LED screen to provide local parameter access and alarm information without requiring external tools. The drive uses non-coated circuit boards, so it should be installed in a control room or cabinet where humidity, chemical vapors, and airborne contaminants are controlled. Adequate cabinet ventilation should be maintained to remove heat generated during continuous operation and prevent excessive internal temperatures.
The internal regulation platform uses a process control card that supports proportional-integral tuning for tracking flow, pressure, or temperature setpoints. The cooling fan moves air across heat-producing components while internal sensors monitor operating conditions and support protective responses.
