The 175Z4300 is an AC frequency converter produced by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It connects a three-phase mains supply to an induction motor and generates variable-voltage, variable-frequency output for speed and torque control. This functionality allows pumps, fans, and conveyors to respond to changing process requirements while reducing unnecessary motor speed during periods of lower demand. The converter is intended for automated manufacturing and process-control systems that require consistent motor regulation across changing operating conditions.
The converter accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply and includes a process control card that executes PID loops and local logic. Network integration is provided through Profibus DP V0/V1 at 12 Mbaud, enabling remote parameter changes, operating commands, and status readback. Its compact IP20 enclosure supports DIN-rail or backplate mounting in a suitable electrical cabinet while providing protection against accidental finger contact. Dynamic braking is handled by a standard integrated brake chopper, which directs excess DC-bus energy to an external resistor during regenerative operation. Under 110% torque loading, the drive delivers 15 kW of motor output, making it suitable for medium-sized production machinery that operates continuously at an elevated duty level.
For short overload intervals at 160% torque, the same frame supports 11 kW, providing additional capacity for demanding acceleration periods. Local interaction is handled by a plug-on operator panel with a supplied display that presents fault codes and basic operating data. Electromagnetic compatibility is supported by an internal Class A1 and Class B filter, which reduces conducted electrical noise on connected power networks. The electronics use uncoated circuit boards, allowing direct access to board-level components when the unit is serviced in an appropriate environment. No option module is installed, leaving the expansion slot available for a compatible application module or additional input and output functions. The open expansion position allows the converter to be configured for later control requirements without changing its primary power section.
