The 175Z4171 frequency converter is produced by Danfoss as part of the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. This AC drive conditions three-phase mains power and outputs variable-frequency voltage that lets controllers regulate induction motor speed and torque in automated pumps, fans, and conveyor lines. By modulating the supply, the converter replaces mechanical throttling and supports precise process adjustments, energy savings, and reduced wear in industrial automation cells. It mounts inside a control cabinet and provides local status information through its integrated display panel.
The input stage accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, so the unit connects directly to common industrial distribution networks. When duty cycles call for 110% overload, the inverter can deliver up to 37 kW to the motor terminals, whereas the 160% torque profile is limited to 30 kW to accommodate higher current peaks without overheating. The electronics and power modules are housed in a compact IP20 chassis that permits ventilation but requires installation in a protected enclosure. Electromagnetic emissions are reduced by an integrated Class A1 and B filter, helping the control panel meet conducted and radiated noise limits in typical factory environments.
A dedicated process control card manages internal PID loops so speed, pressure, or flow setpoints can be maintained without external regulators. For direct operator interaction, a supplied display on the front cover shows output frequency, current, and fault codes. The drive uses non-coated circuit boards, so it should be kept away from high humidity and corrosive atmospheres that could damage exposed electronic components. Communication relies on hardwired input and output connections because of the absence of a fieldbus option, making the converter suitable for control systems that use discrete or analog signals.
