The 175Z4131 frequency converter is produced by Danfoss and belongs to the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. The unit modulates the voltage and frequency delivered to an AC motor, allowing a machine controller to adjust shaft speed according to process demand. It is intended for general industrial automation applications that require variable torque or constant horsepower from pumps, fans, conveyors, and similar motor-driven equipment. This speed regulation can reduce unnecessary motor operation while allowing the connected machinery to respond accurately to changing loads.
Its enclosure has a compact IP20 rating, allowing the drive to fit within cabinets of limited depth while providing finger-safe protection against solid objects. The input section accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, so the converter can connect directly to compatible industrial power systems without a transformer. For applications requiring a 110% overload for one minute, the inverter delivers 22 kW of motor output. When the application requires 160% short-term torque, the usable output rating is 18.5 kW. The power stage has an extended configuration with 24 V backup and a brake chopper, allowing the control electronics to remain energized during brief mains interruptions while providing a path for regenerated energy. Conducted and radiated emissions are limited by a factory-installed Class A1 and Class B filter, helping the converter meet applicable electromagnetic compatibility requirements in production facilities. These electrical characteristics support operation on common three-phase distribution systems while accommodating both continuous process loads and brief periods of increased torque demand.
The converter uses a process control card, providing onboard parameter scaling and PID functions without requiring an external PLC for basic process regulation. Its signal boards are non-coated boards, making the unit suitable for clean electrical rooms where conformal protection against moisture or chemical contaminants is unnecessary. The front cover does not include a display, so configuration and monitoring are performed through compatible remote software. Network connectivity is limited because the unit has no fieldbus option installed. The converter also has no built-in application option, leaving its standard control functions available for fans, pumps, conveyors, and other speed-regulated machinery. This arrangement permits remote adjustment of operating parameters while keeping the front panel free of local display controls.
