Product Description:

The 175Z4130 is a VLT 5000 frequency converter produced by Danfoss for variable-speed control of three-phase induction motors in automated processing lines. Belonging to the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series, the unit converts fixed mains power into adjustable voltage and frequency, allowing conveyors, pumps, or fans to follow setpoints generated by supervisory controllers. By replacing mechanical throttling with electronic modulation, it supports tighter process regulation while lowering energy use and drivetrain wear in general factory automation.

The drive accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, so it connects directly to common industrial feeders without auxiliary transformers. In applications where 110 percent torque is sufficient, the inverter can deliver a mechanical output of 22 kW; this is the available continuous power before thermal limits are reached. When 160 percent torque is required for high-inertia loads, the available power is reduced to 18.5 kW to protect the semiconductor devices from excessive stress. The electronics reside in a compact IP20 housing, which provides protection against finger contact but relies on the surrounding cabinet for protection from dust and liquids. Electromagnetic compatibility is supported by an integrated Class A1 and Class B filter, which reduces conducted emissions and can eliminate the need for additional external filters in suitable installations.

Control functions are executed by a process control card that supports local PID loops and analog-reference scaling. The unit has a standard power stack with a brake chopper, allowing surplus kinetic energy to be dissipated through an external resistor during rapid deceleration. The printed circuits use uncoated boards, so the drive should be installed away from corrosive atmospheres unless suitable enclosure protection is provided. The converter has no integrated display, so operation and parameter setup require a compatible remote keypad or PC-based tool. No application option or fieldbus option is built into the unit, so external modules are required when specialized software functions or network communication are needed.
