The 175Z4123 frequency converter is produced by Danfoss within the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. It converts fixed-frequency, three-phase input power into a variable-frequency output waveform, allowing automated systems to adjust motor speed as load conditions change. The converter is sized for midrange drives that require constant-torque regulation and reliable overload handling in material-handling, HVAC, and light process applications. Its compact format supports cabinet or wall installation where available space is limited.
The unit has a compact IP54 enclosure that protects internal components against limited dust intrusion and splashing water. The input section accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing connection to common industrial power systems without an autotransformer. For applications requiring 110% overload capacity, the inverter provides 18.5 kW of mechanical output power. During short-term operating conditions that require 160% torque, it sustains 15 kW without thermal derating. Conducted emissions are controlled by an integrated Class A1 and B filter, which supports compliance with applicable commercial and industrial radio-frequency interference limits without requiring external filtering components.
Command logic is handled by a process control card that provides discrete and analog control routines for adjusting motor operation and process setpoints. The converter uses uncoated circuit boards, so the electronics lack an additional conformal barrier against moisture, corrosive vapor, and airborne contaminants. A supplied display provides a local interface for adjusting setpoints and viewing operating frequency, output current, status information, and fault codes. The keypad allows drive settings to be reviewed directly at the installation location without requiring a separate control terminal. This configuration has no fieldbus option, so remote commands and reference signals must be transmitted through hardwired digital inputs, analog inputs, or other available control terminals. The absence of a fieldbus module does not prevent local control through the display or conventional integration with external relays, sensors, and analog control equipment.
