The 175Z4118 frequency converter is manufactured by Danfoss and belongs to the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. The unit serves as a variable-speed drive that converts fixed-frequency mains power into a controlled output, allowing induction motors in pumps, fans, and material-handling lines to run at the precise speed requested by process controllers. By integrating the converter inside a standard control cabinet, machine builders obtain compact torque and speed control for a wide range of automation tasks. The adjustable output also allows motor operation to follow changes in process demand without requiring mechanical speed-control equipment.
The converter connects directly to a 380–500 V three-phase supply, eliminating the need for external transformers. In applications that permit 110% torque, its power stage is rated at 18.5 kW, while operations that require 160% torque are limited to 15 kW. These power levels accommodate different overload demands while keeping the converter within its operating limits. Electronics and power terminals are housed in a compact IP20 enclosure that is finger-safe yet slim enough for tightly packed panels. Conducted emissions are controlled by an integrated Class A1 and Class B filter, so additional radio-frequency interference components are usually unnecessary. The enclosure format supports cabinet installation while allowing access to the power, control, and grounding connections.
Control logic is provided by a process control card that supplies analog setpoint inputs and relay outputs for onboard regulation. Rapid deceleration energy is managed through the integrated standard brake chopper, which protects the DC link when connected loads stop abruptly. A front-mounted supplied display module shows operating status, fault codes, and parameter values for system monitoring and troubleshooting. The display provides direct access to operating information without requiring a separate external interface. Internally, the power and gate assemblies use uncoated circuit boards, making the drive suitable for clean, humidity-controlled enclosures where a conformal coating is not required. Appropriate cabinet ventilation and protection from conductive contaminants help preserve stable operation under these installation conditions.
