The 175Z4106 is a frequency converter manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT 5000 Frequency Converters series. Designed for machine-mounted or cabinet installations, the drive converts fixed mains power into a variable output that allows three-phase motors to match process speed demands. This electronic control can replace mechanical throttling, improve energy efficiency, and coordinate motor operation in pumps, conveyors, and ventilation systems.
The drive accepts a 380–500 V three-phase supply, allowing direct connection to common plant distribution systems within that voltage range. For applications requiring 110% of nominal torque, the inverter can deliver up to 15 kW. During brief overload events at 160% of nominal torque, the available output is limited to 11 kW, providing a separate power rating for more demanding duty cycles. The compact IP54 enclosure limits dust ingress and protects the internal components against water splashes, making the converter suitable for installation on a factory floor. Conducted electromagnetic emissions are suppressed by an integrated Class A1 and Class B filter, reducing the need for additional filtering equipment and helping protect nearby instrumentation from electrical interference. A built-in brake chopper dissipates regenerated energy during rapid motor deceleration, reducing excessive voltage in the converter’s DC circuit.
Control functions reside on a process control card, which manages operating commands and real-time drive parameters. A front-mounted supplied display presents status information and allows set points to be adjusted without external tools. The converter has no fieldbus option, keeping control wiring simple in systems that already use hardwired inputs and outputs. Its electronics use non-coated circuit boards, which support heat transfer but require installation in areas free from corrosive vapors, conductive dust, and excessive airborne contamination. Proper enclosure placement helps protect these exposed board surfaces while allowing adequate airflow around the converter. Accessible front controls also allow operating values, alarms, and drive status to be reviewed directly at the installed unit.
